Delta King Scholarships
For Graduating High School Seniors
of a Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado or Placer County
(CA) High School (Public or Private)
The Board of Directors of the Riverboat Delta King Inc. announces the Fifth Annual Delta King Scholarship Competition for two five hundred dollar ($500.00) scholarships for graduating seniors from Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado or Placer High Schools. The Scholarships are named in honor of Edmund and Zize Coyne, the parents of the owners of the Delta King. Both scholarships will be awarded to a graduating senior attending a 4-year college or university, a 2-year community college or an accredited vocational school
The Board is thankful for the continuous support that the Sacramento community has given the Delta King in all facets. In addition to a 44-room hotel with meeting and banquet space, the Delta King is home to the award winning Pilothouse Restaurant, the acclaimed Delta King Theatre and the Suspects Mystery Dinner Theater.

On Thursday, June 29, 2006, the Delta King awarded
Michael Lynch from Valley High School the 2005/2006
Edmund J. Coyne Sr. Scholarship. Mr. Lynch plans
to attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas
this fall. Ms. Irene Yeager, graduate of Visions
in Education, was awarded the 2005/2006 Zize Blanc
Coyne Scholarship. Ms. Yeager is planning to attend
American River College this fall.
Our 2006 Delta King Scholarship winners were honored
at a breakfast reception on board the historic
paddlewheeler.

Description of the Scholarships
Zize Coyne Scholarship
One scholarship of $500.00 to a graduating senior
who will attend a 2 year community college or
accredited vocational school in the year in which
the scholarship is given. The $500.00 scholarship
amount may be applied over two years, but continuous
enrollment is required. (Enrollment in summer
school is permitted but not required).
Edmund Coyne Sr. Scholarship
One scholarship of $500.00 to a graduating senior
who will attend a 4 year college or university
in the year in which the scholarship is given.
The scholarship may be used for tuition and/or
books.
Other Scholarship Requirements
Applicant must submit an application with a copy
of their transcript with a minimum of seven semesters.
A certified copy is NOT required.
Applicant must have an overall academic grade
point average of 3.0 and a citizenship grade no
lowers than a C throughout the seven semesters.
Applicants are required to write an original essay
answering the following question: Now What? Essay
can be about yourself, the state of the economy,
politics or what ever might interest you. Essays
may be serious or humorous but may not exceed
250 words.
Scholarship awards will be determined based upon
neatness, academic and citizenship grades and
other application information. Additional sheets,
if any, are to be securely attached to the back
of the application and have the applicant’s
name clearly marked on each page.
Applications must be delivered by U.S. mail. Applications
hand delivered will not be considered. Regardless
of postmark, applications must be received between
January 1, 2007 and March 31, 2007.
